Wf Mushkin! Ancora non l'ho assorbito per bene questo album, ma da quello che ne ho tratto, lo dividerei in due parti: una molto completo, bello, flow studiato, basi intonate alle liriche e alla metrica e un groove che pija molto. Poi c'è una parte di questo cd che sembra fatta in bagno. Basi orribili e senza senso...
sicuramente le caratteristiche positive di sto cd sn di più rispetto a quelle negative. Un buon cd ai primi ascolti...prendetevelo

Ho trovato sto cd in un blog, ed era descritto come una mina di originalità. Infatti il cd si lascia sentire benissimo. Ha sfumature di vari generi che lo caratterizzano e una formazione che fa ricordare il passato. Zeph dovrebbe essere il produttore e Azeem l'mc. Le produzioni a me piacciono molto, anche il flow del mc...certo non sono dei pionieri da sfornare classici...ma prendetevi sto disco

Io e Infinite ci prendiamo una pausa...è estate, fa caldo, si lavora, e io sto traslocando per andare a vivere in Svizzera...Non sto ascoltando più niente, e mi sembra da cojone mettere cd senza riascoltarli, ma co sta situazione è na pacchera...! Invece di sentire cd me sta prendeno un libro, Gomorra, di Roberto Saviani. Parla della camorra e di tutta la situazione psicologica della periferia di Napoli, periferia a cui sono molto legato...nonstante sono nato e vivo a Roma e in molise...

c'è una citazione nel libro, che l'autore si è imparato a memoria, e adesso anch'io, che vorrei postare...Alle prime letture (come un cd underground) non penetra bene dentro di voi forse, ma sta frase, scritta in una lettera da un ragazzino rinchiuso in un riformatorio a Napoli fa riflettere su molte cose: la piscologia di questi ragazzi, il loro modo di ragionare e vivere ogni giornata e la vita stessa, la situazione di estrema violenza e poverta, la reazione a catena che provoca un semplice sbaglio...e anche la catagolizzazione (se si scrive così) delle persone che hanno a che fare con il Sistema, la camorra e ogni tipo di mafia

El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead

4 anni... Esattamente 4 anni dall'ultimo lavoro ufficiale di Jaime Meline, Mc e produttore portabandiera della rinnomata casa discografica underground Definitive Jux. El-P, lo sappiamo tutti, è un personaggio sempre in cerca di nuove ispirazioni e in continua evoluzione, sin dai tempi dei Co-Flow continua a stregarci con sperimentazioni sempre nuove e mai ripetitive. Questa volta il Lyrical Punisher si addentra ancora di più nell'elettronica, senza mai però dimenticare le origini del rap; le atmosfere sono cupe e oscure, ci trasportano in un tunnel nero fatto di immagini creando senzazioni uniche. Il titolo del disco stà per il capovolgimento di un espressione che stà a significare il divertimento sfrenato, ovvero: "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead". Se l'El-P di Fan-Dam era un El-P arrabbiato e angosciato dall'orrore post-11 settembre, il Jaime Meline di ISWYD è un uomo che ha perso tutte le sue certezze in una vita regnata dallo stress metropolitano e ora si trova sull'orlo del baratro della sua mente. In pratica ISWYD sono le dirette conseguenze degli argomenti trattati in Fantastic Damage. Le produzioni sono tutte affidate allo stesso El-P, che si dimostra, di nuovo, un genio unico in tutta la scena internazionale. Le collaborazioni comprendono anche ospiti esterni al rap, come The Mars Volta, Cat Power e Trent Razor dei Nine Inch Nails, oltre alle altre punte di diamante della Def Jux: Aesop Rock e Cage Kennylz. Liricamente abbiamo uno dei lavori più complessi degli ultimi anni, i testi vanno dai più concreti ai più astratti, El-P usa la musica come sfogo e come mezzo per descrivere il baratro sul quale si trova, ci descrive scenari apocalittici (Dear Sirs), parla dell'uso delle droghe per soffocare il dolore (Tasmanian Pain Coaster), del problema delle droghe (Poisenville Kids No Wins) dell'amore (The Overly Dramatic Truth) e non solo, toccando più argomenti. Il disco si apre con la splendida Tasmanian Pain Coaster (la mia traccia preferita, una sorta di Painkillers del 2007), continuando poi con Smithereens (corredato da uno stupendo video), passando per il funk sfrenato di Up All Night e per gli scenari post-moderni di EMG, troviamo il featuring con Aesop Rock nella stupenda Run The Numbers, seguita a ruota dalla splendida Heabes Corpes con il featuring di Cage e il disco scorre liscio (sempre su livelli altissimi) fino alla finale Poisenville Kids No Wins. Un must per tutti gli amanti del rap, miglior disco del 2007, almeno finora.

Apathy - Eastern Philosophy

Infinite alla tastiera... 2006, Babygrande Records, AOTP, più precisamente i Demigodz: Chelp Titled, One Two, Esoteric, Open Mic, El-Fudge, Rise, Motive, Spin 4th, Styles Of Beyond e... Apathy, oggi parleremo proprio di lui, 29 anni e una discografia di tutto rispetto alle spalle, che comprende featuring con personaggi di tutto rispetto (su tutti JMT e 7L & Esoteric) più vari Mixtapes e EP. Eastern Philosophy è il suo primo album ufficiale, il ragazzo del Connecticut dedica l'intero disco alla sua terra natale: la East Side. Chi conosce Apathetyc sin dagli inizi si aspetterà un disco battagliero in stile AOTP, pieno di Punchlines in puro stile da freestyler come Apathy. Ninete di tutto ciò, l'Apathy di Eastern Philosophy è ormai cresciuto, che decide di affrontare temi di un certo spessore, un Apathy più introspettivo e meno aggressivo, ma che è comunque in grado di regalarci momenti di grande spettacolo. Al microfono il ragazza ci sà davvero fare, il flow è davvero originale e il tono di voce porta ad associare il "King Of CT" a personaggi come Aesop Rock. I testi riescono talvolta a farci riflettere e sono in gran parte molto maturi. Alle macchine troviamo conoscenze dei Demigodz come Chrum The Skrilla Guerrilla che produce 8 tracce su 14, il resto dei pezzi sono affidati a Chelp Titled, Q-Tones, 8th & Vertygo, Dj CheapShot, Exact Beats e lo stesso Apathy.
Le tracce che consiglio sono: Eastern Philosophy, All About Crime (la mia preferita), 9 To 5, Here Come The Gangstas, Me & My Friends (stupenda traccia nostalgica, con lo strepitoso feat. di Esoteric), Chemical e The Buck Stops Here (testo stupendo).

Dilated Peoples - The Platform

2000, Los Angeles, 3 ragazzi: Dj Babu (ex Beat Junkies), Rakaa The Iriscience e Evidence, conosciuti anche come i Dilated Peoples, maestri dell'underground west side, decidono di pubblicare il loro primo disco sotto la Capitol Records... Il disco in questione è The Platform, una raccolta di pezzi editi e inediti del gruppo losangelino; se ascoltiamo il disco senza sapere la provenienza dei ragazzi non riusciremmo mai a credere che vengono proprio da LA, il suono non si avvicina nemmeno minimamente al classico sound west e sfocia in suoni nuovi, molto più vicini a quelli dell'est che dell'ovest. I due Mc sono semplicemente straordinari, il loro stile è nuovo e fresco e ci regalano qualcosa di mai sentito. Dj Babu invece è uno dei migliori Dj's della storia e riesce a legare alla perfezione tracce del 98 e precedenti con pezzi del 2000, senza contare i suoi magnifici scratch. I featuring vedono alcuni degli Mc's più importanti della scena losangelina, underground e non, come Acelayone, B-Real, Tha Alkaholiks, Planet Asia e altri.
Alle macchine invece troviamo il sempre ottimo Alchemist, Evidence, Babu, Kutmasta Kurt e altri producers.
Le tracce che consiglio sono The Platform, No Retreat, Ear Drums Pop, Guaranteed, The Main Event, Years In The Making, Expanding Man e Work The Angles (la mia traccia preferita, storica).

7L & Esoteric - DC2: Bars Of Death

Info alla tastiera. Terzo album per il duo di Boston composto dall'Mc Esoteric e dal Dj e producer 7L. Questo nuovo disco segue la scia presa con Dangerous Connection, del quale è l'ipotetico seguito. I risultati sono anche superiori al primo DC, 7L si occupa del mixaggio e della produzione dell'intero album (apparte 3 tracce), il lavoro che il ragazzo di Boston compie è decisamente superiore a quello che fà nel precedente disco; alle macchine si avvale anche della collaborazione del sempre ottimo J-Zone (che produce uno dei beat migliori del disco), di Apathy e DC. Esoteric è come lo abbiamo sempre conosciuto: una macchina sputa rime dal flow ultra-coinvolgente e battagliero, a mio parere uno dei flow migliori di sempre, le liriche si suddividono in testi battaglieri in puro stile Soul Purpose e testi più impegnati che si distaccano dal classico rap da battaglia del duo. Le collaborazioni al microfono vedono gli Army Of The Pharahos (mega collettivo di Vinnie Paz), i Demigodz (Apathy e Chelp Titled) più vari artisti della scena underground americana.

Aesop Rock - Music From The Earthworms

Ecco finalmente concluso il viaggio trà l'oscurità della Psycho+Logical Records... Sono di nuovo Infinite e oggi volevo postare il primo disco di quello che secondo me è il miglior rapper della storia: Aesop Rock. Corre l'anno 1998 quando un giovane Mc e producer di Long Island (NY), appassionato di Hip-Hop e disegno, decide di pubblicare il suo primo demo, questo ragazzo è niente meno che Ian Mathias Bavitz, conosciuto al pubblico come Aesop Rock. Il demo esce senza etichetta e senza una buona distribuzione, per cui ora è quasi impossibile trovarlo originale.
Alle macchine Aesop si avval della collaborazione di Blockhead, ma la maggior parte dei beat è prodotta dallo stesso Ian. Ciò che stupisce davvero è la tecnica del ragazzo, il suo stile non è paragonabile a nessun altro rapper, è davvero unico, basta un ascolto anche abbastanza superficiale per rimanere impressionate dal suo flow particolarissimo, fatto di alti e bassi che si alternano, accellerazioni e rallentamenti che si succedono, intrecci strani e veloci, il tutto contornato dal particolarissimo timbro di voce che non lascia trasparire emozioni e lo fà sembrare quasi un robot. Liricamente abbiamo davanti un Mc formidabile, Aesop in questo disco non nomina le pistole, nemmeno la droga o la vita di strada, in questo disco esclude proprio tutti i concetti concreti, lasciando spazio a metafore e doppi sensi, creando uno stile tutto suo: l'Hip-Hop Astratto. Beh, lo abbiamo capito, Aesop è un Mc come pochi, ma alle macchine? Idem, Ian Mathias è oltre che essere un Mc eccelso è anche un ottimo producer e si crea uno stile unico anche per i beat.
I featuring sono pochissimi ma micidiali, le due tracce con Peerce P infatti sono due trà le migliori. Trà tutte le tracce mi resta impossibile consigliare pezzi come Abandon All Hope (la mia traccia preferita, con una base agghiacciante e un Aesop che ci rappa sopra al massimo), Wake Up Call, The Substance, 89.9 Fm Nighttrain Promo (base semplicemente stupenda), Coward Of The Year, Shere Khan e Plastic Soldiers.
Un disco immancabile nella vostra collezione!

Necro - The Pre-Fix For Death

Sono Infinite... Oggi avevo in mente di postarvi un altro disco, ma ho ritirato fuori dal dimenticatoio questo album e... Me ne sono totalmente innamorato, se amate il metal e volete avvicinarvi al rap allora questo è il disco che fà per voi, Necro è in forma allucinante e decide di tentare una nuova sperimentazione. Se il macabro e l'horror erano punti fissi di Necro, in questo disco toccano i punti massimi, il produttore/Mc di Brooklyn affronta diversi argomenti e diversi generi! Oltre al rap infatti vengono affrontati anche generi molto distanti dall'Hip-Hop come il Metal e più precisamente il Death Metal, la seconda passione di Necro. Il disco può essere tranquillamente diviso in tre parti: 2/4 del disco sono puro Hip-Hop, 1/4 è Crossover e 1/4 è molto vicino al Death Metal. Queste ultime sono tracce riuscite perfettamente, questo grazie alle partecipazioni di esponenti di spicco del già citato filone musicale come Jamey Jasta degli Heartbreed e Dabby Diablo degli Skarhead. Necro è più in forma del solito... Se spesso non lo amo come Mc, devo dire che inquesto disco compie un lavoro da dio, senza la minima sbafatura degna di nota.
Delle tracce del gruppo Hip-Hop è di obbligo citare The Dispensation Of Life And Death, Reflection Of Children Growin' Up In Grave, Nirvana (con Mr. Hyde e Ill Bill), Evil Shit, Food For Thought e Death Rap (con uno splendido Sabac). Del secondo gruppo cito la Title Track e Watch Your Back. Del gruppo più Metal invece consiglio Insaenology (un viaggio assurdo nel satanismo), Empowered e il remix della stupenda Push It To The Limit.
Un disco semplicemente unico nel suo genere, che unisce perfettamente Metal e Rap, prendetevelo!

Sabac Red - Sabacolypse: A Change Gon' Come

Eccomi di nuovo quà, Infinite, per completare il viaggio nei dischi solisti dei Non Phixion.
Questa volta tocca a Sabac Red: l'anima militante dei Non Phixion decide di uscirsene con il suo primo disco solista, anche questo, prodotto interamente dal compare Necro.
Sabac si stacca decisamente dal Death Rap dei suoi compari, seguendo la scia di altri rappers come i Public Enemy e Immortal Technique verso un rap politico e sociale. Di consequenza Necro adotta uno stile meno cupo, che si adatta meglio alla musica del soldato, il lavoro che svolge alle macchine è sempre ottimo e senza particolari sbafature. Sabac al microfono è un mattatore lirico che non si ferma un solo secondo, il ragazzo tratta temi di grande peso come la libertà e le cospirazioni senza mai sbagliare un colpo, Sabac colpisce dove il dente fà più male e non prova rimorsi, ponendoci davanti agli occhi la sua cruda verità del mondo attuale. Tecnicamente è davvero un'ottimo Mc, con un flow tutto suo, a tratti morbido e ad altri cattivissimo. Le tracce che consiglio sono: Sabacolypse, Positive And Negative, Fight Until The End, The Scientist, P.O.W.'s (con i Non Phixion, Mr. Hyde e Necro), Urban Gorillas, I Have A Dream (la mia preferita) e A Change Gon' Come (metal mix). Uniche due pecche sono canzoni come Protest Music e Bac's Anthem, che non trovano precisa collocazione nel disco.

Continua il nostro viaggio per i meandri più oscuri della Psycho+Logical Records, sono di nuovo Infinite e oggi vi porterò in una gita alquanto oscura.
Tutti gli amanti di Necro & co. come me non resteranno certo delusi, in questo disco Necro raccoglie a chiamata tutte le punte di diamante della sua casa discografica (escludendo solo Sabac): Lui stess, Ill Bill, Mr. Hyde e Goretex. La formula è quella classica della casa discografica di Necro e soci: basi cupe e massicce e ottimi Mc's incazzati neri che ci rappano sopra. Il capitano non sbaglia una base, tutte oscure e cattive, nel suo stile più classico. Gli Mc's del circolo li conosciamo già abbastanza bene, Ill Bill eccelle, ottimi anche gli altri tre.
E' presente anche il pallino fisso di Necro: canzoni con basi metal, che quì sono addirittura due (due delle tracce più riuscite). Da segnalare alcune stravaganze davvero niente male, come The Four Horsemen, la mia traccia preferita, che ci trasporta nel bel mezzo del wild west.
Consiglio l'ascolto solo per tracce come The Chosen Few, South Of Heaven, The Four Horsemen, Necrotura, Ultimate Revenge (le due metal) e The Black Wings Of Apocalypse.

Sono Infinite e dopo Goretex e i Non Phixion ho deciso di postare quest'altra perla made in Psycho+Logical.
Siamo nel 2004: l'anno fortunato della casa di Necro quando Ill Bill, punta di diamante dei Non Phixion, decide di uscire con il suo primo disco solista. Il risultato è stupefacente, l'originalissimo flow di Bill stà a pennello sulle basi cupe e cattive di Necro, che quì troviamo in una versione vecchio stile Death Rap. I featuring sono tutti con artisti della casa di Necro e danno al disco quel tocco di classe in più. Spacca...davvero spacca...sono sempre Wf Mushkin che parla, anzi scrive...! Stavo girando in qualche blog sul rap underground americano, e preso da nomi di gente sconosciuta, sono rimasto folgorato dal leggere, in una blog di soli sconosciuti (ma fighi) rapper, un gruppo underground prodotto da Mf Doom e Rjd2. Le basi sono fighissime, sul jazz e l'afro...anche le liriche non scherzano affatto. Gli mc si alternano bene il mic cacciando un flow molto invidiabile...Ai primi ascolti gli davo un bel 10, forse adesso un 9, ma resta un ottimi prodotto.

Non Phixion - The Future Is Now

Siamo nei primi anni '90 quando Dj Eclipse (Dj degli Arsonists) decide di mettere su un gruppo insieme a tre ex rivali di Brooklyn: ILL BiLL, Goretex e Sabac aka Sabac Red, ed ecco quà i Non Phixion.
Purtroppo per questioni burocratiche il loro primo album ufficiale esce solo nel 2002, disco che contiene nuovi canzoni e vecchi singoli.
Il sound è altamente innovativo, visto che unisce il suono classico della grande mela a suoni e contenuti cupi e misteriosi.
ILL BiLL è certamente la punta di diamante del gruppo, con un flow molto originale e cattivo, ma anche Goretex e Sabac Red non scherzano, in complessivo abbiamo tre Mc's davvero eccellenti.
I produttori sono tutti molto conosciuti nell'ambiente underground e non di NY, saltano subito agli occhi Premier, Pete Rock, The Large Professor e Necro.
Le tracce da segnalare assolutamente sono The CIA Is Trying To Kill Me e il suo seguito, If You Got Love, Rockstars, Say Goodbye To Yesterday, Black Helicopters e It's Us.

Senim Silla - The Name, The Motto, The Outcome 2007

Ecco il primo cd del 2007 che posto. Sono Wf Mushkin. Sono sempre stato molto legato a Senim Silla, sin dai tempi dei Binary Star. Masters of universe oltre a essere uno dei miei cd preferiti, è stato ed è un cd dal valore affettivo, un cd che ascoltavo con forza preferendo 50 Cent nei miei 13 anni di vita, un cd che solo in seguito ho apprezzato. Con i Binary Star ho capito come si ascoltava un cd. Con Senim Silla ho capito che non tutte le persone deludono. Lo stile è quello dei Binary Star, assomiglia molto. Certo non è un classico come MOU, però è un ottimo cd che si candida come pezzo forte del 2007. Per ora, con pochi ascolti, un 7,5 se lo merita.

Oggi è Infinite che vi parla di un mezzo classico del Death Rap... Davvero un ottimo disco.
Primo disco solista per l'ex Non Phixion, uscito nel 2004 sotto la Psycho+Logical Records del compare Necro, il quale produce ogni singola traccia dell'album senza commettere grandi sbafature, d'altronde lo sappiamo, Necro è uno dei migliori produttori che l'underground ci possa offrire.
Goretex dal canto suo dimostra di essere un'ottimo Mc e se la cava egregiamente anche senza i vecchi compagni (che appaiono in sole 3 tracce).
Consiglio vivamente l'ascolto dei brani 60:00, Momentary Lapse Of Reason, Born To Fire, Last 100 Days Of Sodom e Pigmatyr.

Sguardo al futuro

Wf Mushkin on the tastier. Moltissime new entry indie o no, stanno sperimentando un nuovo (?) tipo di rap: mischiare il rap, con l'elettronica! Non so se definire sperimentale questo sottogenere, ma di sicuro volge uno sguardo al futuro. Personalmente non mi piace, ma è sempre doveroso dare un ascolto per capirlo. Fa il pieno di originalità, ma secondo me si distacca un pò troppo dalle radici del rap, ripeto, secondo me.
In questo post, vorrei inserire qualche cd, per capire un pò meglio cosa fanno molti pischelli...
